A total of six (6) scholarships will be awarded.
The mission of Black Men in White Coats is to increase the number of Black men in the field of medicine through exposure, inspiration and mentoring. Baptist Memorial Health Care is accepting applications for scholarships from high school, college and postgraduate students interested in pursuing health care careers. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be registered to attend the BMIWC summit on Saturday, February 27, and submit a 3-5 minute video as outlined below:
In your scholarship video:
- Tell us about yourself: your name, school, major, etc.
- Describe your academic and/or career goals.
- Share a topic that resonated with you from the Black Men in White Coats movie.
- Tell us what effect has any health care profession had on your life, family and/or community.
- Share how you have contributed to your community, along with your volunteer efforts.
- Share something that makes you unique, or a fun fact about yourself.
- Tell us about a time you failed and what you learned from it.
- Explain why you need the scholarship, and how you will use this scholarship to pursue your academic/career goals.
Label your video file using the format below:
- If a high school student: HS_NAME OF SCHOOL_LAST NAME_FIRST NAME
- If a college student: COL_NAME OF SCHOOL_LAST NAME_FIRST NAME
- If a postgraduate student: POSTGR_LAST NAME_FIRST NAME
Scan and email your most recent unofficial transcript with your cumulative GPA.
Scholarship video and most recent unofficial transcript must be emailed to Community.Involvement@bmhcc.org no later than March 19, 2021.
A committee will review submissions and notify awardees by April 30, 2021.
