Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because pharmacists are some of the most accessible health care professionals, which allows us to advocate for patients and help them manage a system that can often feel complex and overwhelming.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I had multiple rotations at Baptist as a student and had great experiences each time. All the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents and staff who I met were always very supportive and encouraging, so I knew that it would be a good environment for me to work and continue to learn in as a resident.
What is your day like?
My day is different depending upon the rotation I am on that month. My day-to-day tasks can range from delivering and counseling on discharge medications through the Meds2Beds program, to verifying patient medication lists through the Med Rec service. Being able to develop relationships with patients and help them achieve their health goals is the most rewarding part of my day.
What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
My favorite thing about Memphis is the richness of its culture and history.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist because of the welcoming and supportive culture, as well as the many opportunities for growth and learning you can find here.

I counsel the patients and answer any questions they may have. I then go home relax, eat dinner and then study to prepare for the next day.

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
My mom is an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse and when she used to tell stories about her patients when I was younger, I would always research deeper into the medications that she would mention. Additionally, I love the direct involvement that a pharmacist has with the community from a health care perspective.
Why did you choose Baptist?
Going to school in Oxford, MS, my friends and I would travel to Memphis when we needed a change of scenery. After hearing former residents speak highly of their experience here and the welcoming environment, I was easily drawn to this location.
What is your day like?
My day is dependent on the rotation site that I am on. Currently, I am on my transitions of care rotation, focusing on patients with heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes. We go through patients and make sure they are on guideline recommended and optimized therapy, and provide additional education, if needed, before discharge. A good portion of my time is spent at Plaza Pharmacy, where I assist with our Meds2Beds program delivering medication and counseling patients before they leave.
What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
My favorite thing about Memphis is how nice and welcoming everyone is. Additionally, there are many places to eat and various things to see and try, and I look forward to exploring more of this city.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis to a prospective applicant because everyone here is truly invested in your growth and success. Additionally, this residency provides a good balance of outpatient and inpatient rotations that would allow me to become a more well-rounded pharmacist. Within this short period of time, I have already learned so much and each experience has helped me grow more as a professional.

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because it allows me to combine my love of science with my passion for helping others. As a first-generation American, I’ve seen firsthand how access to health care affects communities, which inspired my commitment to advocating for patients by improving health literacy and bridging gaps in care.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis because it allows me to give back to the community where I grew up while training at one of the region’s leading medical centers. The program’s diverse rotations, including transitions of care and ambulatory care, align closely with my career goals and offer excellent opportunities for growth. My positive rotation experiences and the supportive environment confirmed that Baptist is the right place for me to develop both personally and professionally as a pharmacist.
What is your day like?
My day varies depending on the rotation. On the transitions of care rotation, I manage the outpatient basket and process test claims to ensure patients can afford their medications after discharge. The goal is to help patients continue their care and prevent exacerbations or rehospitalizations. Challenges can arise when patients don’t have insurance, but patient assistance programs are available to help those who qualify. What’s most rewarding is seeing patients gain access to their medications and knowing I play a role in supporting their ongoing care.
What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
My favorite thing about Memphis is exploring new coffee shops, restaurants and local events happening each week.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist for its nurturing and collaborative environment. From preceptors to hospital staff, everyone is genuinely invested in your success, creating an atmosphere where you feel supported, inspired and empowered to grow.
