Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I have always loved chemistry, but as I learned more about pharmacy as a career it really allowed me to see the differences I can make in patients' lives. After shadowing and interviewing several pharmacists, it really became apparent to me how I can use my love for chemistry while also utilizing clinical decision-making skills in an inpatient setting.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist because of the welcoming atmosphere and comradery between every pharmacist here. When choosing a residency, it was very important for me to be in an environment surrounded by people that encourage you and push you to be the very best you can be.
What is your day like?
Each day here at Baptist is different. I start my day by preparing for clinical rounds and working up patients, then throughout the day I follow up for any changes made by the clinical team. Each day includes different rewarding experiences, but I find them in the experiences I have with patients and advocating for them the best I can.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy as a career because I’ve always been inspired by the meaningful impact a pharmacist can have on their community. My grandfather was a pharmacist, and I grew up witnessing firsthand the positive difference he made in people’s lives. He was not just a health care provider but also a trusted advisor and a compassionate presence in our community. Seeing the respect and gratitude he received from his patients left a lasting impression on me and sparked my own interest in the field. Pharmacy, to me, represents the perfect blend of science and service, allowing me to use my knowledge to directly improve the health and wellbeing of others.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist because, during my visit, I was genuinely impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone I met made me feel like I was already part of the team, and it was clear that the preceptors are deeply invested in the growth and development of their residents. Their commitment to mentoring and supporting every individual to reach their full potential as a clinical pharmacist resonated strongly with me. Additionally, having grown up in a Christian household, I found that Baptist’s mission and values closely align with my own beliefs and ideals, which further solidified my decision.
What is your day like?
Each day brings its own unique challenges and variety, which I find both stimulating and rewarding. The diversity of cases I encounter daily pushes me to continually learn and adapt, fostering my growth as a clinical pharmacist. My mornings typically start with working up patients, where I carefully review their cases and make evidence-based recommendations for medication adjustments. Afterward, I document my findings and recommendations in patient notes. In the afternoons, I follow up on my patients to assess their progress and address any new developments. I also handle any new consults that come in, ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care. This dynamic environment keeps me engaged and continuously honing my clinical skills.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I recommend Baptist because it offers a supportive environment where each pharmacist is genuinely invested in your professional development while also emphasizing the importance of a healthy work-life balance. The culture here is one where your growth as a clinical pharmacist is prioritized, but not at the expense of your wellbeing. Additionally, Baptist has established protocols and collaborative practice agreements that enable pharmacists to be fully engaged in patient care. These agreements empower you to take an active role in decision making and patient management, ensuring that you can practice at the top of your license.

During college, I got involved in pharmacy through different organizations and found it really interesting to be a pharmaceutical drug expert. This career felt right for me because it brings together my passion for science and helping people.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist because I had a positive experience as an intern and during my two APPE rotations here. The learning environment is incredibly welcoming, and the preceptors are committed to encouraging and supporting my growth. I was particularly drawn to the supportive atmosphere that encourages asking questions and taking on challenges, helping me build a strong foundation.

My daily schedule varies depending on the rotation for that month, but it usually involves patient workups, rounds and making recommendations in the morning. In the afternoon, I follow up with questions, review labs and participate in topic discussions. The most rewarding part of my day is seeing the impact of my decisions on patient outcomes.
