Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I always enjoyed math and science, which initially led me to job shadowing at a local pharmacist. Through that experience, I discovered how much I valued the patient interaction and the meaningful impact pharmacists can make in patients' lives. It ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in pharmacy.

Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist because of the people. In pharmacy school, I had an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotation at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto and was immediately welcomed as part of the pharmacy team. In my PGY1 residency interview, the program director took the time to recall my specific interests and career goals and expressed a genuine willingness to tailor the program to support them, which truly set Baptist Desoto apart from other residency programs.

What is your day like?
Each day varies depending on which learning experience you are on. I am currently on internal medicine, so my day begins by working up patients and then joining the family medicine team for rounds. The remainder of the day is spent on activities such as clinical consults and topic discussions with my preceptor. The most rewarding aspect of my day is the opportunity to learn and contribute in a supportive environment.

What's your favorite thing about living in the Memphis area?
My favorite thing about Southaven is the small-town feel, but with the convenience of big-city amenities, especially the shopping and restaurants.

Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist Desoto because it truly feels like a family. The whole pharmacy team truly cares about you, wants to see you succeed, and will push you to be the best pharmacist you can be.

I chose Baptist for residency because of the positive environment and people. Although I didn't have any rotations through here, I was told by multiple classmates and friends of the work environment. I also enjoy learning, and the preceptors at Baptist challenge me to think more clinically and allow me to gain more autonomy in my field of work.
