The entry point for all elective inpatient, one-day surgeries, gastrointestinal procedures, as well as pre-surgery labs including bronchoscopy, electrophysiology (EP) studies, heart biopsies, interventional radiology procedures, lithotripsy, tilt table test (TTT) and transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE).
Cancer services and facilities at Baptist Memphis include three (3) specialized inpatient units, home care and hospice as well as a Radiation Oncology Center, one of the first in the Mid-South to offer CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery.
This robotic technology enables Baptist surgeons to perform major surgeries while making only small incisions. At Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, the da Vinci® System can be used for prostate, open-heart, gynecologic, urologic and other surgical procedures.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis is the only hospital in the Mid-South that offers a spectrum of heart care ranging from noninvasive cardiology to adult heart transplantation. The Baptist Heart Institute combines all heart services in one facility to support high-quality care, research, education and data management. Our facilities include surgery suites, interventional cardiology suites, cardiovascular intensive care unit, two (2) cardiac medicine units and heart transplant intensive care and step down units.

The American College of Cardiology awarded Baptist Memphis' Chest Pain Center accreditation in the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry for its demonstrated expertise and commitment to treating patients with chest pain. The accreditation is based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.

The ACC also awarded Baptist Heart Institute the Transcatheter Valve Certification for our demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients receiving transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures. This certification is based on evaluation of our staff’s ability to meet standards for multidisciplinary teams, formalized training and shared decision-making.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis has long been a transplant pioneer in the Mid-South area. Baptist physicians completed the area's first open heart surgery in 1960 and the first heart transplant in 1985.
We diagnose and treat strokes of all kinds at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis including ischemic, hemorrhagic and transient ischemic attacks (TIA). Our multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurointerventionalists and more than a dozen neurosurgeons offer a full continuum of care, including a neuro intensive care unit, rehabilitation services and support groups for stroke victims.
Leading-edge technology for inpatients and outpatients is provided for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville and Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women. The Neurodiagnostics Department enables diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system disorders, such as head and spinal cord injuries, seizure disorders (including epilepsy), strokes, tumors, aneurysms, and multiple sclerosis. Testing procedures include electroencephalogram (EEG) for adult and pediatric patients, visual evoked potential (VEP), somastosensory evoked potential (SSEP), electromyogram and nerve conduction study (EMG/NCS), and intraoperative monitoring (IOM). The Neurodiagnostics Department also provides ambulatory care where the patient can go home with a continuous EEG monitor. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis has the only adult Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in the area. The specialized 4-bed unit is designed for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of seizure disorders and patients can expect to receive continuous monitoring by our EEG technologists.
In addition to a full range of services in our 40-bed Orthopedic Inpatient Unit, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis also offers a wealth of outpatient services at our Baptist Medical Group Outpatient Care Center, including physical and occupational therapy services, and speech and language pathology services.
Inpatient rehabilitation therapies at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis help acute-care patients improve their functional status. Other specialty services include wound care and modified barium swallows.
Outpatient physical, occupational and speech-language therapy services are available at Baptist Medical Group Outpatient Care Center
In addition to the general Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, we also provide two (2) specialized ICUs for neurological and cardiac patients. And on the other end of the Memphis campus, Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women provides a 40-bed newborn intensive care unit (NICU).
