Swing Bed (Skilled Nursing Transitional Rehab Program)
Swing Bed refers to a general acute care hospital bed that can be swung from acute care to a lower level of care and back again to meet a patient’s needs. Typically, the type of patient who would benefit from this service is one whose condition has improved after hospitalization but is still in need of more time for continuous care before returning home or, in some cases, to a more supervised situation. Examples of conditions that qualify for swing bed care include physical therapy, intravenous (IV) hydration, complex wound care, infections requiring IV antibiotics, daily respiratory therapy requiring inhalation medications, unstable nutritional support requiring enteral feeding (tube feeding) and post-surgical care. The patient should have reasonable restorative or rehabilitative potential. Medicare patients must have received three calendar days of acute care as a hospital inpatient prior to being admitted to the Swing Bed Unit. For more information about our Swing Bed Unit please call us at 662-289-4311 or 662-290-3319 (Fax: 662-290-3287).
