Baptist Memphis Announces New Director of Advanced Heart Failure Program

Memphis, Tenn. – The Advanced Heart Failure Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis announced Dr. Dmitry Yaranov as director and Dr. Osama Mahmoud as full-time cardiologist.

The Advanced Heart Failure Program, located inside the Baptist Heart Institute, provides comprehensive cardiac care and services for patients diagnosed with advanced heart failure who no longer respond to medicines and require frequent hospitalization.

“We are proud to have Dr. Yaranov’s expertise and passion lead our heart failure treatment program,” said Brad Parsons, administrator and CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. “And our patients will benefit greatly by having a dedicated cardiologist available full-time in Dr. Mahmoud. These physicians will help us continue our excellent patient care close to home.”

Dr. Yaranov was born and raised in Samara, Russia, where he attended Samara State Medical University, one of the largest and oldest medical schools in Russia. He received postgraduate training at Danbury Hospitals, a major affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine, where he developed a passion for heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, and general cardiology training at The University of Florida. He completed his advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, the nation’s top institution for cardiovascular care.

Dr. Osama Mahmoud attended the Suez Canal University Faculty of Medicine in Ismailia Egypt. He received his postgraduate training at Saint Agnes Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and his cardiovascular disease fellowship training at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. From there he completed his fellowship training in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University.
