Baptist & Christ Community Health to Host Holiday Lunch for the Homeless

WHAT: Baptist Memorial Health Care and Christ Community Health Services will host the eighth annual Baptist Operation Outreach Tree of Faith, Hope & Love holiday luncheon for for the homeless. During the luncheon, which benefits patients of the Baptist Operation Outreach mobile unit, Baptist and Christ Community will give attendees backpacks filled with winter and personal items, such as socks, scarves and gloves. Baptist employees and community members contributed these items during the month-long Baptist Operation Outreach Tree of Faith, Hope & Love donation campaign.

BACKGROUND: The Baptist Operation Outreach van, which started in 2005, is a mobile health care unit that addresses the health needs of the homeless in Memphis, Tenn. Formerly the HOPE Health Center, which operated for six years at a fixed location, the mobile unit provides acute and primary care, disease management support and prevention information to Memphians without permanent housing. Baptist Operation Outreach also provides medication and free transporation to and from medical appointments.
