Baptist + Semmes Murphey Brain & Spine Network Center of Excellence

Acute back and neck pain are some of the most common conditions for adults in the U.S., affecting about 100 million people every year according to the National Spine Health Foundation. This pain can significantly impact one’s quality of life and adversely affect their day-to-day functions, prevent them from participating in their favorite activities and decrease their workplace productivity.

We launched the Baptist + Semmes Murphey Brain & Spine Network Center of Excellence to help employers combat rising insurance claim costs and minimize lost productivity or absenteeism due to employee back and neck injuries.

Brain & Spine Network Treatments

Conservative Care Management

Whenever possible, we look for nonsurgical options to treat back and neck pain. Our conservative care management includes office visits, diagnostics and appropriate nonsurgical care based on a clinical evaluation.

Surgical Evaluations

Patients with certain conditions, or those who do not respond to conservative care, are evaluated for surgery. Baptist + Semmes Murphey Brain & Spine Network Center of Excellence program offers multiple cranial and spinal procedures:

  • Back and neck spinal fusion
  • Craniotomy and endovascular intracranial procedures
  • Catheter placement
  • Laminotomy
  • Lower back disk surgery
  • Other spinal procedures

Interventional Pain Management (Nerve Blocks)

Nerve block treatments can be an effective nonsurgical option for acute back and neck pain. Providers inject medication in a specific area(s) to temporarily block nerve signals and provide pain relief.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapy services are a part of our conservative care pathways, as well as post-operative treatment for some surgical patients. We provide both general and post-operative physical therapy treatment at conveniently located facilities throughout the region.

Advanced Imaging

Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans are included with many of our bundled payment programs to ensure accurate diagnosis and prompt, effective treatment.

Concierge Service

Every Brain & Spine Network patient has an expert nurse navigator to guide them through the care journey, coordinating appointments, providing answers to questions, connecting with resources and ensuring a smooth and seamless care experience.
